As a board, all our board members remained, and we gained a treasurer. We continued conducting monthly board meetings and quarterly joint board meetings with the KEC-UG board to establish better relationships and to help us understand the most pressing issues from the board and community. The KEC-UG board has continued with efforts to develop relationships with local leader with the goal of increasing awareness and seeking assistance for school. KEC-AVOH continued to use Facebook to solicit donations during special occasions to raise funding for our mission.
In February, the KEC enrollment stood at 280 students for Nursery through the 5th grade (P5). KEC-UG notified us that the nursery school was determined to be unsafe. KEC-AVOH funded the rebuild of the nursery school building. We also funded fifteen uniforms and purchased our first bulk order of textbooks for the school.
March was the month that most of the world shut down because of the Coronavirus pandemic. As circumstances in the Kaguma community seemed ire, we funded the purchase of rice to help needy families at the beginning of the crisis. KEC-AVOH continued to send monthly donations so that we could continue to pay teachers and retain them. We also provided funding for one teacher to go back to school to obtain a diploma. At the end of the year, we funded a new nursery school classroom anticipating that the school would have more nursery students because of COVID. We donated funds to buy rabbits for needy families.
